Hi guys and girls...
It is a long time I don't post on here, and I wouldn't have wished to do it with a ready made miniatures but with WIPs so to share more with you...but time is always an issue, and my ability to take pictures is definitely lower than my painting skill...at least I hope so!
Anyway, this is my interpretation of Buhrdur, the Troll chief of the LoTR range. I wanted again to make some experiment with an almost B&W palette, and this is the result, I hope you like it and any comments is welcome

Hey Doc,

I like all your pieces very much! Your interpretation of Buhrdur fits perfectly I think. Only the white stripes around his mouth are a little bit too large in my opinion. A little bit finer it would be better.

The Nurgle Lord I like very much too. Especially the flag including the freehand and also the metallics at the plate. The rusty part is really amazing and realistic!

What I can see the Tanka Wanka will become again an awsome miniature! The skin is really fantastic. Unfortunately there are many shadows in the pictures which make it more difficult to recognize every detail. The Base I like very much, too. Only the front of the base still seems to be a bit empty. Are you going to put something on this empty parts?

Hi,

great job! But still you could go even darker in the shadows of the skin.

Btw, I think the photos are a little too dark...

Hi,

very, very beautiful Minis.
I really like the natural colours you're using. The Metallics of the Nurgle Lord are awesome!

The Base for the Tanka wanka is a real piece of art, very nice!
Suggestion for this one: I would give the Lips a little bit more colour, maybe by using a thinn glaze of the Red which you used for the Scar on the head. So the face would look more livelier.

But anyway a really great Mini. :)

Cheers

My finished Tanka Wanka, with his history...
This is a Stone Age man, which sadly looks at his degraded and degrading environment...and he knows thaqt nothing can be done, soon he will not be here anymore and everything will be forgotten, this is the reason why his look is of a sad man...he is a Stone Age man, but his shows a soul...

Let's go to the pictures:

thank you, I am delighted that you like it... :D
as far as the story, I just could imagine how lonely he could feel, just looking at that desolation and being unconsciously aware that he couldn't do anything to stop the time or change the situation...I thought he could be in that unreal silence, just listenig to his primordial thoughts...

I am working on the Coat of the model, I hope it gives you an idea. I started from a brow-green-black base, progressively lighten up to green ochre + white + a bronzed skintone...Shadows has been gotted with a dark red

Hi.

Wonderful start on this one. You really create a dense atmosphere by your choice of colour.

Your Tanka Wanka is truely amazing. Great textures, especially on the stone axe. The scene is well chosen and perfectly executed. I already admired it at the Lugdunum Show galleries without knowing it was yours.

Congratulations!

thank you very much for your words...
unfortunately my TW was not at Lugdunum...you must have seen the one from Bla bla which is one of the nicest TW actually, but the fact that thought it was mine makes me really proud...
I tried to give this miniature the flavour of an ancient man, a little overwhelmed by his lonelyness....I hope I succeeded...

As far as the Lanyssa, I thought to make her blouse red, to contrast the dark green on the cloak, what do you think?
thanks again and looking forward to hear other comments...

The top parts of the cloak are as light as the parts on the back. Do you want to have a special lightning effect?

much more a photo effect indeed. On the top part the reflections are almost to white, on the back they are a little darker, up to skintone or bleached bone
But I liked the idea that some special reflections would come from the cloack, so to make the diamonds more evident.
Does it make a negative effect for you?
Thank you : )

Haha, no. It does look wonderful.

I didn't know, that you wanted to paint diamonds (you Havn't mentioned that yet, have you?). But it is obvious that the cloak should be some kind of glowing or magical.

In addition the photo is huge for a only 28mm miniature.

Looking forward to no WIPs,

Well, like that

The diamonds which are down should be overall darker than the upper ones, I think.

But otherwise, the mini is really great so far!

This is only personal tate, but in my opinion the contrast between "Yellow" and "red" is to hard in my opinion...

But the suit itself is beautiful painted! It shines and glows. Great!

Yep, the contrast is to extrem. Looks a bit like i firetruck, sorry to say that. Try yousing som flesh tones, like GW Dwarf Flesh, for highlighting red. It gives a more naturally looking surface, especially concerning organic materials.

hey Doc...good to have you here.. im a big fan of your works.
maybe the guy are right about the contast on the last piece..
well.. i think i would ad some dark red brown tone in the shadows of the yellow... maybe somthing like a hull red from modelcolor or scorched brown from gw....
so it pulls the different parts more together...
but the rest is flawless ..
thumbs up

hi there Ben, thanks for your kind words
I have now almost finished the lady and as soon as I will do decent pictures, you will see a difference. From this last picture, the red turned too much to yellow giving a flaming appearance, but to a certain extent it seems due to the picture. In real it is not that yellow, and seems (to me at least) to be nicely reddish...
I'll be happy to have your comments right after I'll post new pictures so to understand if I could fix the tone or not
Thanks again

Starting a new projects...and I start from the base
The miniature is a Nurgle Sorcerer by FW (http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/NURGLE-CHAOS-MARINE-SORCERER.html), a nice model with a lot of details
As usual I start from the base, which I did widen, starting from the std 20 mm base, up to a 40 mm base, to have more space for my little stuff...I hope you like it, most of the details are done with plasticard (sheets, rods, stripes, pipes, I-beams, etc...)
It will be a rusty base but with some nurglish green liquids around the sorcerer
what do you think?

I think the lady is painted very well but there is something with the colours which also disturbs me. I guess it is the difference in saturation. The Red is very intensive and the Yellowgreen of the Cape is more muted, pale and bright. I`m not very sure but probably it would help to make the colour of the cape darker or more saturated? I guess darker would be a good idea. At the moment I don`t know where the focus is. The Red armor is a focus point, but the very bright cape too. So my eyes switch from the cape to the armor, from the armor to the cape and so on.

Sci Fi Base: Oh well I`m an absolutly dilletante in building up bases, so for me that looks awesome :-)
