Yep, the contrast is to extrem. Looks a bit like i firetruck, sorry to say that. Try yousing som flesh tones, like GW Dwarf Flesh, for highlighting red. It gives a more naturally looking surface, especially concerning organic materials.

hey Doc...good to have you here.. i´m a big fan of your works.
maybe the guy are right about the contast on the last piece.. well.. i think i would ad some dark red brown tone in the shadows of the yellow... maybe somthing like a hull red from modelcolor or scorched brown from gw.... so it pulls the different parts more together... but the rest is flawless .. thumbs up regards ben |

hi there Ben, thanks for your kind words
I have now almost finished the lady and as soon as I will do decent pictures, you will see a difference. From this last picture, the red turned too much to yellow giving a flaming appearance, but to a certain extent it seems due to the picture. In real it is not that yellow, and seems (to me at least) to be nicely reddish... I'll be happy to have your comments right after I'll post new pictures so to understand if I could fix the tone or not Thanks again ciao Doc |

Looks already realy cool - i like the red armour!. One question: on the first picture the mini seems to be white coated, on the last looks like grey?

Starting a new projects...and I start from the base
The miniature is a Nurgle Sorcerer by FW, a nice model with a lot of details As usual I start from the base, which I did widen, starting from the std 20 mm base, up to a 40 mm base, to have more space for my little stuff...I hope you like it, most of the details are done with plasticard (sheets, rods, stripes, pipes, I-beams, etc...) It will be a rusty base but with some nurglish green liquids around the sorcerer what do you think? ciao Doc

I think the lady is painted very well but there is something with the colours which also disturbs me. I guess it is the difference in saturation. The Red is very intensive and the Yellowgreen of the Cape is more muted, pale and bright. I`m not very sure but probably it would help to make the colour of the cape darker or more saturated? I guess darker would be a good idea. At the moment I don`t know where the focus is. The Red armor is a focus point, but the very bright cape too. So my eyes switch from the cape to the armor, from the armor to the cape and so on.
Sci Fi Base: Oh well I`m an absolutly dilletante in building up bases, so for me that looks awesome |
