I write that cause i have received several emails of people who where making the mistake buy the first edition ( french, english, spanish italian..)

Here is my stupid edito

At that time when major TV channels and big advertisers don’t want to talk about such a highly important miniaturistically event, because they prefer to focus on block busters or summer hits each one as much tasteless as each other, it remains to me only my poor website and specialised forums to talk about this huge audiovisual topic: the release of the new “Miniatures painting DVD”.
what's that got to do with the price of eggs and fish?


This DVD (or these DVDs, as I should say, because there are two of them) is close to the famous TV concept of 100% foot on CNOX News, which consists in having some people sit around a table, talking during an hour about a topic they think they know, and watched by billions of guys…. Close because there is some small differences: first I’m alone in the TV, second you’ll have to watch for almost 8 hours and last in spite of all my effort, you won’t be a lot to watch it in prime time (bloody CSI…)

So this summer, instead of having a bath between two Buds, I invite you to stay inside, in front of your TV or your PC, with me in your living room, almost sit down on your knees, to watch a DVD about the painting of small guys, even if you already complain to lack time to paint…

The next three full video extracted from the DVD, which will be released soon, will deal about the theoretical part of the zenithal light (drawings, scheme, shots and talks during 7 or 8 minutes), the 20 minutes step by step about the pre-shadowing method, the successive layers, the crossing of brushstroke, washes, glaze and other temperamentalery, and at last a miniature commented by an off screen voice: “Athela”, based upon the Artemis from Hasslefree. So try to surf on the website these next days. Tuesday or Wednesday, I hope, if I’ve got time to mount all of this

When sending out the first instalment of DVD's in Italian and Spanish, and on NTSC
home DVD player (Northern America, a part of southern America and Asia:
http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/NTSC), we saw the DVD's included some bugs.
We apologize for any inconvenience and we will reserve this first batch of copies only for
French and English speaking countries (outside NTSC zone).
We will contact the customers already in possession of one of these DVD once a compatible version is ready in their language. It should be done in September.

The French and English DVD, compatible with NTSC players, are expected for the weekend of Gencon Indy from the 14th to 17th of August 08. Even if this first version is not NTSC ready,
there is no problem to read it on an usual computer as long as you have a regional decoder.

Some bugs appeared on the first version of this DVD but they don't harm the use of the discs. They're now reserved for the French and non-NTSC English market. Here is a list a bugs and solution: the first DVD is in fact the second one and the same for the second DVD, which is in fact the first (labels have been reversed). Some Spanish subtitles appear sometimes but it
doesn't interfere with the French and English dubbing.
It's only a visual problem.
Inside the part about the metallic, the step by step method about the TMP blade leads to the NMM chapter again. So the TMP chapter will be available on our website. TIP: go on the NMM blade step by step. Once this one started, use your remote controller or your keyboard to go to the previous chapter. This way you will go to the TMP step by step blade.

From your computer, you can directy found the video. It’s the file VTS_32_1.VOB.

Hey, Jérémie!

I have watched the whole DVD last night (until 4am *yawn*) and overall it is really good.

As you mentioned there are a couple of bugs in it - which are mostly more a nuiscance rather than a real problem.

However, some of the parts do not have an English dubbing. These are marked with a '*' in my post here.

Sometimes you have to manually change the dubbing to English when moving to different chapters (again, not a big problem, more an inconvenience). On the zenithal lighting part the loud title music overlays the english dubbing in the first 20 seconds or so.

Also: When using the 'chapter forward' button on a DVD player, the chapters are not in order. So when I enter the Gallery and press 'next' a couple of times I actually get to some tutorials rather than to the next gallery piece.

Two more things: The Videos TMP Blade and Stains are wrong - it seems as if the two videos where not separated or indexed correctly.

On the gallery videos the english dubbing ends in the middle of the sentence in many examples as the video seems to be ended early (example: merchant, ...)

Ah - and on a more humorous note: I hope that your Minis are never struck by Zenithal Lightning but rather by a soft Zenithal Lighting : With your tendency to drop minis I would actually say that you are seem to be struck by lightning every now and then

Anyways, I love the DVD and made it a clear 'buy' on my reviews here and here. You got 4.5 out of 5.0 presidential Hoopy Points :P After fixing all the technical issues you will get a 5.5 out of 5.0 points and jump right off the Hoopy Scale.
